Junk E-mail Decisions and Litigation

AOL v. Web Communications, Inc., et al.

On March 2, 1998, AOL sued Web Communications for the transmission of unsolicited bulk e-mail to AOL members that advertised pornographic Web sites such as "www.aolsex.net."  On May 10, 2000, U.S. District Court Judge Barry R. Poretz recommended an entry of default judgment in favor of America Online, including injunctive relief and monetary damages in the amount of $1,578,175.48.
