 AOL v. CN Productions, Inc.

AOL previously brought suit against CN Productions, Inc. in 1998, and was awarded $1.9 million in damages and an injunction prohibiting further unsolicited e-mail. In May 2001, AOL brought a Motion to Show Cause seeking contempt against sixteen individuals and thirteen corporate entities that it had alleged had violated the 1999 injunction. In October 2002, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia awarded AOL $6.9 million in damages and fees against these defendants, reaffirming its earlier injunction.
